What is it?

HSV-2 is a form of genital herpes that can be sexually transmitted by skin to skin contact with someone who has the herpes virus although lesions may or may not be visible on the skin.

How is it spread?

By having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the disease.

What are the Symptoms?

  • Itchy or painful blisters on the vagina, vulva, penis, buttocks, anus or the inside of your thighs.
  • Burning when urine touches the herpes sore.
  • Itching
  • Pain around genitals
  • Flu like symptoms
  • Swollen glands in the pelvic area, throat, and under arm.
